DUST [1st EDITION]
• MULTI-SENSORY CHAMBER OPERA • AARHUS, DENMARK – AMMAN, JORDAN • 2015 •
Background
DUST engages an international community of artists initiated by the progressive Danish composer Line Tjørnhøj. In August 2015 the first edition of a contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk was premiered in Aarhus, Denmark. On an existential quest for a new social agenda and new way of making collaborative art, the interdisciplinary ensemble began their journey into the core of chaos, desire and love. DUST is still in its creation! And in the coming years it will keep reoccurring in different shapes. DUST is a multiple-layered teamwork growing across cultures and art fields involving social food engineering, product and fashion design and socio-economic empowerment.
Director’s Statement:
»DUST is like an uncontrollable force. Even our most tenacious attempts to get rid of it are somehow doomed to fail. Just as those people who define themselves as the cleanest ones, but in fact behave as the filthiest! Isn’t there a different way of dealing with the unwanted particles in this world than turning ourselves into sanitary fanatics? Better sooner than later we come to realize that we’re all walking on the same dusty road…«
